Frequently asked questions...

Q.  "After soft reset, the program icons referring to SD-card are not recognised ( I see a white square instead of the usual icon in Start menuIn the File manager I see an 'SD-MMcard' and 'SD-MMcard2'

A. The symptom described in is caused by the memory card not being read fast enough, so the O/S assumes its not there.  This is not due to the speed of the memory card.  You may have opted to save email attachments to the
card.   We suggest you disable that option, remove the card, delete the "SD-MMcard2" folder and soft reset.  Then  re-insert your card and it will be seen as SD-MMcard once more.  Your attachments will be saved to the internal memory.

Q.  "Dear LooXuser,  my alarms don't seem to repeat and there is no repeat tickbox in sound options?"

A.  Regrettably and annoyingly, Microsoft decided to remove this feature for PocketPC 2002.  The ability to have a single alarm for each day of the week remains however within the "Clock" application.  There are a number of third party software packages to overcome this, but they have to run in the background at all times.  We much prefer the use of extended alarm sounds which can be easily transferred to your LOOX and then you can select which one you like in the "Reminders" setup.   Anyone wishing to obtain the files need only send a request to LooXuser (following the contact link at the foot of the page) and we will email you them, with installation instructions.

Q. "LooXuser, I cannot get my LOOX to synchronise with my PC"

A.  This has got to be the number one problem in the PocketPC and Activesync.  As there appears to be no single solution, we will be bringing a dedicated page for this problem soon.  The first thing to try, however, is a re-install of the latest build of Activesync; You can download the latest version by following the link on our Home page...

Remember however to have your LOOX and cradle unplugged during the install process until prompted.  Also remove your LOOX from the cradle when starting and shutting down your PC.  Other Activesync help can be obtained by following this link.

Q. "May I recommend you add a "Home" button to your top navigation bar"

A.  You may, good idea!  We will add it to all sub pages soon.

Q.  "Hello LooXuser.com, I notice your site talks of replacement batteries for the Loox, can you tell me more?"

A.  We have been looking at the possibility of replacement cells which users can replace themselves when the warranty expires.  As the warranty is a welcome two years, we have slowed pace in this area until such times as this becomes an issue (if it ever does!).  That said it has been suggested to us that some users would like a larger capacity battery internally, rather than use Fujitsu's extended battery pack.  We will be pursuing this and will feedback as soon as we know anything.

Q. "I am thinking of buying a foreign language Pocket LOOX, as it is cheaper, then updating the ROM to English.  Can I do this myself?"

A.  The simple answer to this it can be done but it is not recommended!.  This is a permanent feature of all PocketPC's unless you are prepared to flash the ROM in a different language.   If you really want to risk it you can find out how by clicking here ...

Q.  "Hello, can you tell me whether the GPRS/GSM CF solution is locked to particular mobile phone networks?"

A.  Thankfully, the card can be used with any SIM card.  You do however need to subscribe to GPRS via your provider to take advantage of its advanced features.

Q.  "Is it possible to connect to the internet & email via my infrared modem using the Loox?"

A.  Yes this is possible and with IRDA mobile phones too.  However this is not the most reliable of connection options!
